Fire Station No. 3, located on the city’s north side, was originally designed with future expansion in mind when it opened in 2013. As West Lafayette continues to grow -particularly north of Kalberer Road – our emergency response infrastructure must grow with it.
This project expands Fire Station No. 3’s capacity to support new development, prioritize firefighter health and safety, and strengthen our ability to serve residents in the northern third of the city.
One of the most important drivers of this project is modern firefighter safety.
Protocols and best practices have evolved significantly over the past decade.
To reduce exposure to harmful contaminants and create a healthier work environment, the expansion will include:

Increased demand for emergency services
Development in the northern districts – including Arbor Chase and new multi-family housing – has created increased demand for emergency services. Fire Station No. 3 is the primary response station for these areas.
