Moving West Lafayette Forward

Detail2
About WLMoves

With its beautiful parks and scenic trails, West Lafayette is a community committed to continuous improvement. Our construction projects play a crucial role in enhancing public spaces and infrastructure, benefiting everyone. We appreciate your patience as we work towards a brighter future for our community.

All Projects

Thanks to the support from the West Lafayette Redevelopment Commission, we’ve finalized designs and construction costs for the Cason Family Park as of May 2023 and are in the construction process.

Cherry Lane will be realigned to accommodate Purdue University’s new Pete Dye Clubhouse. With this project, the area will also be enhanced with a new roundabout, multi-use trail, more lighting, and new stormwater infrastructure. Lane restrictions will begin in Spring 2023 between Northwestern Avenue and McCormick Road with the project expected to wrap up by September 2023.

Augenblick, Palaich and Associates (APA Consulting) is working to create a comprehensive gap analysis to help us identify and meet the early childhood education needs in the West Lafayette community.

Lindberg Road between Northwestern Avenue and Salisbury Street is being reconstructed to include stormwater improvements, a new multi-use trail, and new sidewalks. Construction is slated to begin spring 2023 and will be completed December 2023.

With West Lafayette's population booming over the past decade, city officials are exploring a transformative upgrade to public safety services. A feasibility study is underway to consolidate Fire Station #2 and fire administration into a modern, centralized campus along West Navajo Street, next to the police station. This proposed move addresses the outdated condition of the current Fire Station #2 and the growing needs of both fire and police services, aiming to enhance safety and efficiency for the community.

The Sagamore Parkway Trail project is a new, 10-foot asphalt trail construction from Happy Hollow Road to the Wabash River Bridge. The Sagamore Parkway Trail will provide a connection from the Nighthawk Trail to the Wabash Heritage Trail, as well as connecting to an existing path across the Wabash River Bridge to the City of Lafayette. The path to the bridge includes a meandering, scenic ride through woods to your destination. Construction is well underway and expected to be completed in 2023.

The Salisbury Street/Grant Street Redevelopment Project aims to connect our trail systems from north to south, improving access and safety for multimodal travelers. The project's second phase, which includes Grant Street reconstruction, will begin in March 2023.

As part of the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan, the Soldiers Home Road Reconstruction project seeks to address continuing community growth in the northern areas of West Lafayette. This project will include road reconstruction, a new multi-use trail, and new sidewalks. The multi-use trail will connect the Nighthawk, Sagamore Parkway, and Happy Hollow Trails to the Northwest Greenway Trail.

Yeager Road between Sagamore Parkway and Cumberland Avenue is being reconstructed to include stormwater improvements, a new trail, and new sidewalks. Currently, northbound and southbound lanes are open and will remain open during the winter months. Construction will resume in March 2023 and is expected to wrap up by Summer 2023.
