PROJECT OVERVIEW
The City of West Lafayette has launched a Street Lighting Initiative to improve lighting conditions along Indian Trail Drive in the Wabash Shores Neighborhood. This effort is part of a broader citywide goal to improve pedestrian safety and unify lighting styles across our community.
Indian Trail Drive is regularly used by students walking home from West Lafayette Intermediate School, and resident concerns about visibility and safety have brought attention to this area. The City’s Engineering Department conducted a formal lighting evaluation using the FHWA/TAC rating system, which determined that additional lighting is warranted to serve the needs of the neighborhood.
On December 17, 2025, Hawk Enterprises, Inc. was selected as the electrical contractor for the Street Lighting Initiative, responsible for the installation of new street lighting.
This project is being funded as part of the 2025 West Lafayette Redevelopment Commission Spending Plan.
WHY THIS MATTERS
We are considering three different lighting options and want to hear from residents of Indian Trail Drive who will be directly impacted by this change.
Your input will help determine the final amount and style of lighting to be installed.
Survey Closes: August 29, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.
The lighting option selected will be posted here. Check back for project updates or contact the City of West Lafayette Development Department at development@westlafayette.in.gov | 765.775.5160
