About

The City of West Lafayette is planning a new east-west connector road north of Kalberer Road to enhance mobility, support future development, and improve safety in our growing community. The proposed roadway will connect Yeager Road to Soldiers Home Road improving travel options for residents, emergency responders, and others moving through the area.

Project Overview

The 425N East-West Connector is a new corridor designed to address anticipated increases in residential and commercial activity. The project is divided into two segments:
  • Yeager Road to Salisbury Street
  • Salisbury Street to just east of Soldiers Home Road
Construction is expected to begin as early as Spring 2026, following the completion of design and necessary approvals.  Design and engineering work is being led by American Structurepoint, with funding anticipated through the RAD TIF District (Kalberer/Cason/Blackbird – Research Advancement District), which is currently progressing through the public approval process.

Design Features & Amenities

Complete Street Design

This project embraces West Lafayette’s vision for multimodal, accessible streets. The new roadway will feature:
These features will support pedestrians, cyclists, and other non-motorized users, making the corridor safe and inclusive for all modes of transportation.

Environmental Considerations

Environmental responsibility is a key part of this project’s planning:
Property Impacts & Considerations

The project team is discussing the project directly with impacted property owners throughout the planning and design process. These one-on-one conversations ensure that property-specific concerns are addressed and that landowners remain informed as the project advances.

Residents are encouraged to follow this page for updates or contact the Engineering Department with questions.

Traffic Flow During Construction
Because this is a new road, most construction impacts will be limited to connections at existing intersections:
More specific construction staging plans will be shared once they are finalized.
Public Transit Considerations

At this time, the project does not intersect with existing CityBus routes. If transit connections are added, we will share updates here.
