Early Childhood Education Center: Public Input Session

You shared your input during our July session. Now, see how it is helping shape the next phase of planning. 

Earlier this summer, the City of West Lafayette asked community members to review initial concepts and share their priorities for a potential Early Childhood Education Center. Feedback was collected during the first Community Engagement Session and through the Virtual Input Session. 

The project team has reviewed that feedback, along with input from early childhood education providers and other community stakeholders and used it to identify a conceptual direction for further exploration. 

Now, we’re bringing that work back to the community. 

From Your Input to the Next Concept

At the first session, community members provided feedback on initial concepts and priorities related to access and drop-off, outdoor spaces, environmental design, programming, and other features. 

At the September 2 session, we’ll show how that feedback helped inform the conceptual direction now being explored. 

You’ll have an opportunity to review and provide additional input on: 

• The updated site plan orientation 

• The building’s overall size, shape, layout, and placement on the site 

• Potential exterior materials and siding 

• Potential interior themes for finishes and features 

• Other design elements being explored 

This is not the end of the public input process. Your feedback during this session will help the project team understand what elements are favored, what should be reconsidered, and what should be explored further as planning continues. 

Still Early in the Process

The Early Childhood Education Center remains in the planning and design phase, and the viability of the potential site continues to be evaluated. 

The concepts and materials presented on September 2 are not final decisions on the location or building design. 

This session is another step in the process: we asked, we listened, and now we’re coming back to show you how community input is informing the work – and to ask what you think about where it is headed.
