About

West Lafayette is wrapping up a major project that started in 2016 to keep the Wabash River cleaner and healthier. This final phase of the Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) project will expand our water treatment system to handle more wet weather, preventing overflows of untreated water into the river during heavy rain. With this expansion, our system will now be able to manage up to 2.6 million gallons of water, helping us protect public health and keep our river safe for everyone to enjoy.

This phase also brings another new addition: a LEED Silver certified administration and laboratory building, the city’s first municipal building to achieve this environmentally friendly certification. These new facilities will enhance both the efficiency and sustainability of our treatment efforts, reflecting West Lafayette’s commitment to a greener, more resilient future.

This project is all about making West Lafayette a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable place for generations to come. This final phase is planned to be completed in early 2026.
