SK hynix Project Neuron Site Activities

What’s Happening

As part of its comprehensive environmental process, SK hynix will be conducting two surveys at our new site over the next few weeks. These activities are required by federal, state, and local regulations to ensure we protect both historical and environmental resources.

Historical and Archaeological Survey

Why we’re doing this: We need to check for any historical artifacts or archaeological sites before construction begins, following Indiana state guidelines for historic preservation.

What you might see:

Field Preparation

  • The field will be tilled to make the ground surface easier to examine. This work may begin this week, weather permitting.

Site Investigation

  • Survey teams will walk across the property in a grid pattern to look for any artifacts on the surface
  • If any artifacts are found, additional testing may be needed

Environmental and Wildlife Survey

At the same time, we’ll also be:

  • Conducting desktop research on local wildlife and plant species
  • Checking for any threatened or endangered species in the area
  • Assessing any wetlands and natural habitats present to ensure they’re protected

What This Means for You

These surveys are standard environmental protection measures that help SK hynix build responsibly while preserving West Lafayette’s history and natural resources. These activities will be contained to the site and should have minimal to no impact on the community.
