Construction Update: Masonry Wall on the West Side of the Police Station Site

As part of the new construction of the Public Safety Center, you may notice a small section of the building being constructed on the west edge of the police department site. This is only a temporary sample of the exterior construction before the rest of the exterior is completed. When complete, the wall will include brick, stone, metal panels, and windows. This is called an exterior mock-up.

In simple terms, it’s a full-size sample of the outside of the building. It shows how the walls, windows, brick or panels, insulation, and trim will look and fit together. Instead of guessing how everything will turn out, we build a small portion first to make sure it’s done right.

Here’s why we do it:

  • To see how it will look. This lets everyone review the colors, materials, and overall appearance before moving forward with the entire building.
  • To make sure it performs properly. We can test for things like water leaks, air sealing, and durability.
  • To set the quality standard. Once approved, this sample becomes the benchmark for how the rest of the exterior should be built.
  • To catch issues early. If adjustments are needed, it’s much easier (and less costly) to fix them at this stage.

This mock-up is temporary and is a normal step in building a high-quality project. It will be removed after review.

We appreciate your understanding as we take this extra step to ensure the finished project meets expectations and serves the community well.
